Forty-five firefighters from the Gila National Forest responded to the East fire when it was reported on April 22 at 4:07 p.m. local time. It is located south of Hicks Cemetery near the town of Mimbres and Hwy 35. It initially started on private land but has moved quickly across and into the jurisdictional forest boundary. The fire is 183 acres and is 100% contained. Fire personnel will monitor and patrol the fire to ensure the fire stays within containment lines.
