This fire location is across the South Rim trail from the SR-4 campsite that burned one year ago, in the Chisos Mountains. Crews worked the fire overnight to contain the fire. High overnight humidity levels and cool morning temperatures allowed firefighters to conduct an early morning attack on the north flank before day time temperatures heated up. The fire is now contained, but there is still much work to be done. A type 6 engine arrived yesterday from Big Thicket National Preserve, they are available for operations and any new starts. The operation is also supported by the park mule team- carrying much needed supplies like water, food, and equipment to the remote location of the fire.
