On Sunday, July 3, 2022, a wildfire had started off of FM 1061 and Buena Vista Rd in Potter County. Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) received a request for assistance and was enroute at 2:00 pm on July 3. The fire was being pushed to the north by high winds through a short grass fuel component in rough topography from the Canadian River Drainage. TAMFS is working in unified command with Potter County Fire Dept. All resources include Potter County Fire, Boys Ranch Volunteer Fire Dept. TAMFS, National Parks Service, Bureau of Land Management and Potter County Motor Graders.
Forward progression of the fire has been stopped at this time, and heavy equipment has constructed containment lines as direct to the fire edge as possible around the perimeter of the fire.
