Crews have increased containment tonight on the Hippy Ridge fire. Aerial resources knocked down the head of the fire to allow ground resources to begin direct attack on the fire. Good progress has been made by Texas A&M Forest Service dozers with some private equipment’s assistance. Local fire departments have completed a burnout along the East flank to secure that edge. Forward progression of the fire has been stopped at this time and containment has been increased to 40%. Total acreage has also been increased to 47 acres by aerial mapping.
