Dozer lines were constructed along Esterbrook Rd on the east side of the Monday Creek Fire to expose bare soil and suppress fire growth.

A multitude of aerial firefighting resources were utilized to suppress the Monday Creek Fire on Saturday and Sunday, leaving behind streaks of red retardant across the landscape.

Local volunteer firefighters from Converse County Rural Firefighters were first to respond Saturday afternoon to the new start 7 miles Southwest of Esterbrook. From left to right Kerry Wallace, Jim Bass, Ron Broten, and Gene Cole.
