River Complex Fire Update Sunday September 26, 2021

Etna, CA-  Fire crews focused efforts in the Minnehaha Creek area and the fire burning between Craggy Peak Ridge and Little Mill Creek. Crews were successful in keeping the fire from progressing farther down the slope on south side of Minnehaha Creek.  The plan for today is to keep the uncontrolled fire edge from gaining intensity and keeping the fire from moving into a position which would be influenced by upcoming wind.  Crews will continue to keep the Cronan fire within existing control lines and prevent the Haypress fire from spreading to private property and surrounding communities.

More favorable weather conditions are forecasted starting Monday. Although there will be limited precipitation along the eastern perimeter of the fire (less than 1/10th of an inch), cooler temperatures and increased humidity will give the crews the opportunity to continue to increase their containment of the fire utilizing direct handline construction. Forecasted breezy conditions ahead of the approaching cold front will cause temporary increased fire danger, however the fire is currently in a position that is sheltered from the southwesterly winds.
