River Complex Fire Update Wednesday, October 6, 2021
Light precipitation fell over the higher elevations of the River Complex overnight, with Eddy Gulch Lookout receiving .06" of rain. Although the eastern flank of the fire didn't receive measurable rain, humidity recoveries were excellent. Yesterday's breezy conditions caused the fire to grow slightly in the Sugar Pine Butte area in Div. Q and on the very western flank, south of Cabin Peak in Div. T. The current weather pattern of below normal temperatures and higher humidity will minimize any future growth to these remote areas in the wilderness which have been slowly growing.
Today will be a cool, fall day around the fire area, and will provide excellent conditions for fire crews to target the remaining hot spots near the eastern perimeter of the fire. The primary focus of suppression resources will be to take advantage of the favorable conditions and mop-up any heat which is left in the upper portions of the Minnehaha Creek and near Stoddard Lake. Both overnight fixed wing and daytime helicopter infrared flights will continue to be scheduled to identify the locations of the remaining hotspots. Equipment will continue their suppression repair efforts with four groups focusing on the areas of Bear Country, Ramshorn, Coffee Creek, and Trinity.
