Summary: A quarter-inch of rain fell on the fire last night, improving conditions for firefighters. On Thursday, the Haypress fire continued its northeastern push toward Callahan and Hwy 3, burning over the top of Craggy Peak. However, after rainfall this morning the fire spread has moderated. A dedicated structure protection group is working to assess and initiate fire protection measures in and around Callahan. The Cronan Fire is holding and remains in patrol status. Of the 32 fires started on July 30, only 2 fires remain active today.
