River Complex 2021
Publication Type: News -

Effective at 6:00 pm on August 3, 2021, the California Interagency Incident Management Team CIIMT 14 took command of the River Complex located on the Klamath National Forest. The complex consists of approximately 22 fires. Of these, 6 fires have been contained and are in patrol status. Of the active fires, most are ½ to 20 acres. The largest fires are Haypress at 5,500 acres, Cronan at 450 acres and Summer at 2,500 acres for a total of 8,487 acres.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the River Complex for Wednesday August 4, 2021. The area is expected to experience hot, dry and windy conditions caused by an incoming dry, low-pressure system with increasing southerly winds. Smoke conditions continue to persist with poor air quality.

Today, priorities will include point protection and protection of identified values at risk. Firefighters will also be doing recon and developing plans to suppress all fires within the River Complex.

Siskiyou County Sheriff’s office has issued the following evacuation information:

EVACUATION ORDERS:
The town of Cecilville, all residents along Caribou Road, all residents along Taylor Creek Road and surrounding areas due to the River Complex. Please leave these areas immediately.
