Operations: Today, firefighters extinguished multiple heat sources in lower Nogal Canyon to protect values at risk and secure the perimeter around homes. Work to secure the perimeter in the higher, rugged canyon country is ongoing. The Nogal Canyon Fire has been active on the east side as a result of strong winds from the west, with highly visible smoke. Crews and helicopters coordinated water drops to slow fire growth to the east and northeast. Strong winds grounded helicopter operations in the afternoon.
Evacuations: All of Nogal Canyon remains in evacuation status. As soon as it is safe for the public to re-enter the fire area, an update will be posted. Prepare yourself and your family with a go-bag. Visit ready.gov for more information on evacuation preparation.
