Fire Update: A Red Flag Warning is forecasted today until 9pm due to dry weather and high winds. The forecast calls for sustained winds of 25-40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Another Red Flag Warning is predicted tomorrow from 11am-9pm. Containment has held at 97% throughout the weekend’s high wind events and warming temperatures. Throughout the fire, smoke may be visible as fuels continue to be consumed. Crews are mopping up the perimeter and working the unsecured fireline along the northwest edge and diminishing pockets of heat in the southeast. As suppression repair continues, resource specialists are assessing completed work and additional rehabilitation actions needed. A group of incident resources will continue to support local resources with any new starts that may occur in the vicinity of the fire.
If you have any questions regarding the Philmont Scout Ranch operation, please contact the ranch directly at 575-376-2281. The National Scouting Museum and the Tooth of Time Traders are open to the public 8 am – 5 pm daily.
