  WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR 

Temperatures will cool off a little today, with highs approaching 65 degrees and relative humidity staying in the double digits of 15-20%. Winds are forecast to be 5-17mph gusting to 25mph. Fire behavior continues to be minimal but east of the fire there is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon that could produce gusty outflow winds affecting the area. 

 

FIRE OPERATIONS  

Suppression work in the northwest part of the fire near the communication towers continues and crews will work to finish removing unnecessary equipment.   

 

Crews will continue to remove hose, pumps, fittings and other equipment from along Hwy 4 and the 289 road.  Suppression repair work and chipping operations also continue along the 289 road. 

 

Suppression repair continues along the southern end of the fire and crews are patrolling the line for areas of heat and finishing up chipping operations. 

 

Crews finished removing all the structure wrap and equipment from Bandelier National Monument. 

 

Night division had their final shift last night and will be moving into the day shift to assist crews on other areas of the fire.

 1 Type 1 hand crew, 10 Type II hand crews, 25 engines,      3 dozers, 15 water tenders, 4 ambulances, 2 helicopters.

Fire Restrictions: The Santa FeCarson and Cibola National Forests have implemented forest closures due to the extreme fire danger. Stage II Fire Restrictions remain in effect for the Santa Fe National Forest, which prohibits all campfires and other hazardous activities. Due to ongoing fire threats, Sandoval County will not issue burn permits. Stage III Fire Restrictions are in effect for Pueblo de Cochiti and Los Alamos.
