Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Wildcat Updated News Release
Elko, Nev. July. 19, 2022 – Wildcat Fire Status Update – The fire size remains at 21,429 acres and is 85% contained. Today the fire received less wind than in previous days. The crews working are from multiple agencies and have been doing a wonderful job.
Fire behavior characteristics observed were minimal with some creeping and smoldering. There was little to no visible smoke on the fire today. The fire showed no additional growth.
No structures have been damaged and no injuries have been reported at this time. Crews are continuing mop up interior heat and have made significant progress on suppression repair. Crews are working hard to fix fences and repair dozer berms. Nevada Team 3 is on track to transition the fire back to the local district on Thursday morning.
There are currently 148 personnel on the incident staffing - 4 Crews, 4 Engines, 5 Dozers, 2 Water Tenders, 3 Helicopters.
