Canadian River Bottom Fire
Size: Estimated 30,000 acres
Containment: 10%
Cause: Under Investigation

Yesterday, March 29, 2022, a wildfire started in between the towns of Canadian and Miami off of highway 60. Canadian Volunteer Fire Department were first resources on scene. Multiple fire department had arrived throughout the evening. Fire crews worked throughout the night establishing containment on both flanks and doing structure protection with heavy equipment and engines. High winds continued throughout the night which kept fire activity very active. Structures have been lost, but no confirmed number of what structures and how many have been lost at this time.

For today, March 30, 2022, Crews will continue to establish line around the fire and engines will assist with containment and structure protection. Forward progression has slowed down significantly due to crews working flanks throughout the night. Aviation will be requested, but usage will be dependent on wind conditions.

Weather will continue to be windy with winds sustaining at 20-25 mph and gusts to 45. This could make containment efforts difficult. Minimum relative humidity for today will be forecasted for today along with a 30% chance for some precipitation. For weather updates refer to local weather forecast stations.
