Location: approximately 6.5 miles southeast of Big Lake
Size: estimated 8,000 acres
Containment: 80%
Overnight, crews made significant progress on containment of the Chico Lane Fire. Containment lines were constructed with heavy equipment and burn out operations were conducted to remove unburned fuel between the containment lines and the fire edge. Crews worked into the early morning hours and will return at daylight to continue suppression efforts.
Fire Weather: Post frontal conditions this morning with a northwest wind that will shift around to the south overnight staying south on Saturday. Minimum RH should fall below 20 percent today with fair recovery tonight. Saturday will be warmer and drier with minimum RH falling below 15 percent. No chance of rain through Sunday. Monday looks to be a significant fire weather day with low RH and a gusty west wind, a cold front will move down Monday evening.
