Christine Fire
Publication Type: News -

Crews worked into the last night to increase containment on the Christine Fire. They were able to conduct a 200 acre burnout operation, removing unburnt fuel from in front of the advancing fire, creating a good secure area that is now marked as contained. Several aerial drops yesterday helped to lower fire activity and allow crews to attack the head of the fire. Once the fire stopped for the evening crews got some rest, with some local resources monitoring the fire. This morning crews are back on scene working to extend lines that were started yesterday with the goal of completely lining the fire with dozer lines. The TIFMAS engine strike team and local resources will be patrolling the perimeter of the fire today looking for heat and putting out these areas to ensure they do not challenge the line. Today's weather will be feature some elevated winds and low humidity before recovering tonight. Thursday looks to be another day of elevated fire conditions and additional resources are being ordered for the region in light of these predictions.
