Das Goat Fire Update April 1, 2022 7:45pm
Size: 1,092 acres
Containment: 95%
Personnel: 28
The Das Goat Fire in Medina County ignited on March 25, 2022 under warm, dry and windy conditions. Critically dry grass and juniper vegetation supported ignition and growth of the fire with some spotting of flammable materials ahead of the flaming front.
Today, there was very little fire activity around the perimeter. Fire resources patrolled the containment lines and continued to mop up around the active areas. Due to the critical fire conditions and wind advisories, crews will remain staffing this fire to ensure that current containment is held.
The Sequoia Hotshots continued work to support suppression efforts. The terrain makes it difficult to get equipment and engines to some of the areas. The hotshot crew will be able to hike into those previously inaccessible areas to aid in containment of the fire.
