The Dempsey Fire picked up in activity as the day progressed and temperatures increased, it spotted over the Brazos river in several places and made a few runs towards Grassy Ridge Road, but did not cross it.

The fire has been progressing in a northwest to west direction and is still a fair distance from Graford, FM Rd 4 still remained closed from HWY 180 to HWA 254 throughout the day.

Crews continued to construct line and hold the fire along roadways, engaging spot fires that had jumped, crews also worked to hold the fire along the Brazos river where they could. Aviation resources where used to support ground efforts with helicopter drops and tanker drops.

Night shift crews will continue to try to reinforce containment lines with dozers and by burning out pockets of unburnt fuel.
