The goal today is to extinguish any hot spots near the containment lines that have the possibility of escaping. Crews will continue to put out areas as smoke appears throughout the day. 

Better mapping is completed since final containment lines have been established. The area burned is now 540 acres, decreasing from the original estimate of 600 acres. The fire is approximately 3 miles long, and ½ mile wide. It was stopped just ¼ mile from reaching a home. Firefighters have worked tirelessly to keep this fire from reaching Walnut Springs.

It will be several days before firefighters leave the scene, so any help is greatly appreciated. Donations of water, ice, snacks, and electrolytes can be dropped off at Walnut Springs Fire Station or at your local fire station.
