Hardcastle Fire
Publication Type: News -
Crews battled the heat today, with highs reaching 109 at one point. Even with the heat they fought fire aggressively, hitting every hot spot that could possibly threaten the containment line. A few spot were found on the outside of the line, but with air attack over the fire these were quickly spotted, extinguished, and lined by a dozer.
Better mapping is completed since final containment lines have been established. The area burned is now 540 acres, decreasing from the original estimate of 600 acres. The fire is approximately 3 miles long, and ½ mile wide. It was stopped just ¼ mile from reaching a home. Firefighters have worked tirelessly to keep this fire from reaching Walnut Springs.
It will be several days before firefighters leave the scene, so any help is greatly appreciated. Donations of water, ice, snacks, and electrolytes can be dropped off at Walnut Springs Fire Station or at your local fire station.
Please stay up to date on the status of the fire from InciWeb, trusted news sources, and the Bosque County Emergency Management Facebook page. There are no evacuations at this time, but residents in the area should be prepared if the need arises.
