Mustang Fire July 15,2022 Final Update

Size: 390 acres
Containment: 100
Cause: Under investigation
Start Date: July 15, 2022

Today crews were requested to assist Johnson county with a large, fast moving grass fire north of Godley, Texas. Texas A&M Forest Service responded with Engines, Dozers, and Aerial resources to assist local departments. Working in Unified Command with Johnson County departments, these combined resources worked to knock down the head of the fire and build lines around the perimeter of the fire. Aerial resources were used for several drops before being released, with dozers creating line behind these drops. Engines and ground personnel began extinguishing hot spots immediately, monitoring the perimeter and ensuring the fire was out.

There were some temporary evacuations for a neighborhood and a ranch but these evacuations have been lifted at this time.

This will be the final update for the Mustang fire. For more information, please check the Johnson County Sheriff's Facebook page or Johnson County Emergency Management Facebook page.
