The Red Mud fire started on Friday, April 1st, 2022 at approximately 2:40 pm in Crosby County just east of White River. The fire is burning in mostly grass but is being wind driven towards structures. 

Bull Dozers engaged on east flank to put in containment lines due to that work, forward progression has stopped. Three Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) worked the head of the fire to support ground resources. Structure protection was put in pplace to protect values at risk. 
 
The Texas A&M Forest Service responded and was in unified command with the local fire department.  

The fire is officially 100% contained as of April 2, 2022 and turned over to locals. Federal and state resources have been released.
 
Pending any significant change in fire activity this will be the last update for this fire.  
 
 
Weather:Generally modest north winds continued through daybreak with RH near 75 percent this morning. Winds shifted from north this morning to east by noon to south-southeast by early evening. This change in wind direction was gradual throughout the course of the day, and no sudden wind shifts occurred. Wind speeds were generally at or below 15 mph at the 20-foot level throughout the day, however a few gusts near 20 mph this afternoon. RH fell into the middle to upper teens this afternoon with clear skies and slightly above average temperatures. Winds will weaken slightly after sunset and remain generally out of the south-southeast overnight. Wind speeds are expected to remain at or below 15 mph at the 20-foot level tonight with RH recovery above 60 percent.

 
Evacuations and Road Closures: No evacuations or closures for the duration of this fire. 
 
Damages and Injuries: Structure protection was completed around the structures that were threatened. No damages to report.
