The Paint Crossing Fire started on August 7th, 2024  approximately 10 miles southwest of Throckmorton, Texas. Local fire departments initially responded to this fire and began working to put the fire out. They requested assistance form Texas A&M Forest Service to provide additional engines, air support, and heavy Equipment.

Texas A&M Forest is working in unified command with local fire departments to continue suppressing and putting out the Paint Crossing Fire.

Crews are using heavy equipment to construct containment lines, areas cleared of any kind of combustible material, around the perimeter of the fire, stopping any further spread. Engines are working along these lines, putting out any active flames and identifying any heat to ensure that fire can not cross back over the containment lines.
