The Paddock Fire was started on the afternoon of August 5, 2024 by lightning. The fire is located approximately 20 miles north of Emmett, Idaho.
Fire suppression resources responded immediately but adverse weather, terrain, and extremely dry fuels hampered initial attack efforts. Boise District Fire Managers ordered an Incident Management Team the morning of August 7.
Nevada Team 3 has assumed command of the Paddock Fire on August 9. The team continues with suppression of the Paddock Fire while providing for public and fire fighter safety as well as preservation of property and values at risk.
Th fire has held at 187,185 acres for several shifts as crews work to hold, monitor, patrol and improve lines. Heavy mop up is occurring in the Ola Sweet areas around structures.

Hold, monitor and patrol control lines. Continue to construct direct and indirect dozer line to establish control lines. Provide for point protection of values at risk. Protect natural and cultural resources to the maximum extent possible. |

Fire perimeter will continue to be tested by strong drainage winds. If fire becomes active it will continue to burn to the Northwest, East and to the Southeast. Activity on the East side in the Sweet-Ola area is ongoing and will remain a primary focus, with a secondary focus on the communities of Weiser and Emmett, ID. |

Washington County Washington County Sheriff's Office has updated the evacuation zones in the area southeast of South Crane Road from Cove Road to the Mercury Mine, and south to Payette County line which is still Be Set Level 2. Payette County Evacuation notices are being lifted in all areas within Payette County except the Little Willow and Dry Creek area, which are reduced to a Get Ready Level 1 status. Gem County Gem County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation orders for the Sweet Ola Highway up to High Valley Road, Spring Creek Road, Butte Road and the Van Deusen area north of Highway 52. All evacuation areas are still set at a Get Set Level 2. |
| Weather Concerns | Warm and dry conditions on Sunday with clear skies and mostly light winds. The shortwave will bring a 10 to 20 percent chance of thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday afternoons, with 30 mph outflow gusts possible near storms. |
