The Black Canyon fire was first reported in the afternoon of August 10, 2024. It is located on private land is located on private land 30 miles NW of White Sulphur Springs, MT. The Montana DNRC County Assist Team (CAT) assumed command of the Black Canyon Fire on Sunday, August 11.

Planned Actions |
The structure protection group will continue to evaluate the risk of structures in the area. They will prep structures where needed. Crews will continue to work along switchback road, checking for hot spots along the fires edge. Crews will build direct hand line while working north and west to slow the fire's spread. Along the east slope downward, crews will build direct line, as fire activity allows. They will also assess and implement contingency line to the north. |
