Intent: Protect and preserve the sagebrush ecosystem within Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge by controlling the Warner Peak Fire to prevent further degradation of the critical habitat for the greater sage-grouse and other wildlife. Prioritize the defense of key ecological areas while ensuring the safety of personnel and minimizing disruptions to local economic activities. Division C (NW Side): Assess and implement strategies to minimize the total acres burned within the approximately 10,000-acre unburned area between the main fire and Hart Mountain Road. Prioritize options that provide direct containment while preventing any fire spread west of Hart Mountain Road. Division G (NE Side): Complete mop-up and secure the fire¿s edge from the Division C/G break to the Division G/J break at Decision Point (DP) 56, including the full containment of the 400-acre slopover north of Swede Knoll. Division J (SE Side): Conduct regular patrols and monitor the fireline from the Division G/J break to the Division J/T break. Initiate firing operations only as necessary to prevent the fire from breaching the indirect road used as a containment line. Division T (SW Side): Continuously monitor the main fire and take appropriate actions to reduce fire intensity as it progresses westward toward Hart Lake. Prioritize the protection of identified Values at Risk (VARs) in this area. |
