Last night resources were able to wrap the fire using dozers and made good progress suppressing the fire with the engines present on scene. Local departments worked in Unified Command with Texas A&M Forest Service to monitor and identify hot spots around the fire perimeter. Working together all resources protected ten structures that were threatened. 

Today crews were back on scene patrolling the perimeter and working to extinguish hot spots. Resources are working to ensure that any heat near the edge of the fire are extinguished and would not provide any threat to the line. As conditions continue to heat and dry through out the day, resources are going to continue searching for new heats that may pop up through the day. 

Even after the fire is contained some areas may continue to smoke. These smokes that are interior will continue to burn for the next several days and will not necessarily threaten the lines. Allowing these smokes to burn up reduces overall fuels and allows some of the fire to benefit the environment. All plant material that burns will return nutrients into the soil to help plants regrow after beneficial moisture.
